Robert Lee Worthey, a Mentone, Alabama native, has been involved with music since the age of eleven, when his musical career began with joining the band and choir in the fifth grade. He continued those activities throughout high school, college, and everyday in his life otherwise and has played a wide variety of instruments, both traditional and nontraditional. He has since gone to college and performed in marching band, pep band, wind symphony, jazz band, and concert choir at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, performing in various venues across the United States. Of these many performances, one notable performance includes a vocal performance at St. Paul Episcopal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement, under the baton of multiple conductors, including composer Michael Trotta.
Since college, Robert has been working with marching bands across the country by writing drill design, musical arrangements, and original compositions. He has taught high school band and choir in areas of Northeast Alabama and works on his own time in the field of composition for various ensembles. Since beginning compositional work, Robert has written music for bands in several states across the country and provinces in Canada and has been thrilled to see and hear his works in action whenever possible. Upon moving to the Denver, Colorado area, Robert was happy to assume the role as director of Mountain Majesty.
A personally notable mark in Robert's career was a composition of his being performed at his alma mater, Plainview High School, in his junior year while still seated as a performing member of the band. Robert is also proud to say that he has seen some of his compositional works performed by honor bands and honor choirs, both in his home area and outside the region, and has watched many of his musical arrangements, original compositions, and drill designs from marching band clients win contests at regional, state, and national levels in multiple circuits.
